As every week Wednesday is the day I spill the tea ( i decided to take this youtube trend on the blog) with all things social media and this week I am covering the new exciting feature that Instagram has started to realise in the last few days, INSTAGRAM GUIDES.
What are Instagram Guides?
How do they work?
How can you use them?
Instagram guides is a new feature to create and curate a scrollable content. During the global pandemic, there has been a necessity for the world to be connected, and there for the content and the way we spend time online changed into a more informative and educative way.
They allow users to follow a curated flow of posts with commentary — which is great for step-by-step guides, tips, and recommendations.
If you are someone in the health and Wellness sector this is exactly where the main focus will be at least to start with. Instagram in fact announced that it will initially focus on wellness content from expert creators and organizations in an effort to provide resources for people who are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’ll enable creators to connect with expert organizations to share resources during this time, including tips on how to look after your well-being, maintaining the connection with others, or managing anxiety or grief.”
Kevin Systrom Founder of Instagram
This first group of creators includes an international roster of mental health advocates and organizations, including American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (US), Heads Together (UK)
It will be a matter of time before others leader in the industry will jump on this new feature.
Although only a few Creators will be able to use them right now the new feature will be available from the profile page and by selecting the new Guides icon from the feed tab. From here you will be able to see all of the Guides a creator has shared, much like how the IGTV tab works:
These guides will be also sharable on Instagram Stories.
I personally feel like Instagram guides will be a great opportunity for small business to share their story in a way that is digestible for their audience.
As the carousel became such a great tool for training and storytelling I think guides will become the new trend and takeover. here are some ideas you can implement within your strategy to master the guide feature:
Infographic guides are super popular on Pinterest and on my opinion a great way to make your content more digestible. If you have a blog you can wrap up the most important information of your articles into an infographic to share on IG Guides and then a call to action the link the full article.
Now more than ever people are looking for a relatable connection with who they buy from. Sharing who is behind a product and establish that connection with the consumer is what is converting into leads your followers. You can take advantage of the Ig Guides as a way to walk your consumers through the story behind your company and share the values and what you stand for as a brand.
Microlearning and e-learning are the way forward when it comes to absorbing educational content. Train your audience and teach them something some actionable steps that you can wrap up on IG guide
